Call for Experts: WG-76 'AIS/MET Datalink Services'
EUROCAE WG-76 and RTCA SC-206 have published ED-335/DO-364A “Minimum Aviation Systems Performance Standard (MASPS) for AIS/MET Data Link Services”. This Standard contained requirements for 11 services used for the exchange of AIS and meteorological information. One of the services is the Emergency Diversion Service (EDS).
As described in the document, the EDS will provide a minimum set of AI/MET Information necessary to assist in an emergency situation in which the safety of the aircraft or of persons onboard or on the ground is endangered for any reason. An emergency situation may result in it being impossible to continue the flight to the destination as planned, resulting in one or more of the following outcomes: loss of altitude, diversion to a nearby aerodrome, forced landing, response of law, or emergency personnel.
EUROCAE and RTCA are interested in gauging industry interest in participating in an activity within the already existing WG-76/SC-206 to develop a Minimum Operational Performance Standard (MOPS) for the EDS. This MOPS will detail the requirements for the implementation of the Service. WG-76 is looking for experts in particular, but not limited to, in the following areas:
- Airlines;Airline Operation Centers
- Air Navigation Service Providers
- Airports;Airport Emergency Service Providers
